The @scribblenaut is an object that appears in Scribblenauts Unlimited and Unmasked. It is unable to be summoned by the player due to having an @ in its name, which is considered an invalid character.

It first appeared in Scribblenauts Unlimited, where it could only be created using the @ method glitch. It does not normally appear anywhere in-game, and is likely just a leftover developer object not meant to be seen by the player.

The @scribblenaut made its first intended appearance in Scribblenauts Unmasked. While it still cannot be normally created, it gets used during the “Out of Body Experience!” mission that has a chance of randomly appearing. During the mission, a witch turns Maxwell into a spirit and teleports his body elsewhere in the level, requiring the player to go find it. The @scribblenaut serves as Maxwell’s uninhabited body, lying on the ground while they are separated.

When Scribblenauts Unlimited was ported to mobile devices, the @Scribblenaut made another proper appearance. This time it was repurposed into one of the four “Maxwell Clone" avatars that are unlocked by default.

About[]

The @scribblenaut has no behavior assigned to it, and just walks back and forth like any other idling NPC. It appears as a white, faceless Maxwell.

In the game files, this object is found alongside other Super Scribblenauts avatars. It's possible this object was going to have the scribblenaut appearance, before the Super Scribblenauts avatars were scrapped and replaced with Maxwell's family.

Another possibility is that it was intended to be a blank template for the player to start with in the Avatar Creator, but got scrapped in favor of editing the existing avatars.
