All cats (regardless of breed) protect Kittens. If Maxwell picks up the kitten, the cats will become hostile and attack Maxwell.

Black hole
If Maxwell is holding Bread and clicks the cat, you can do three things: Pick up, Interact, Use. Click "Use" and Maxwell will run to the cat. When Maxwell gets to it, the cat turns into a Black Hole and Maxwell dies at the same time.
