Catoblepas is a legend of Greek origin. It was said that Pliny the Elder first witnessed one in Ethiopia. Catoblepas always keeps it head facing down. It has scales on its back meant to protect it. It was described to have the head of a wild boar and the body of a buffalo. When someone gets attacked by a catoblepas it gets the adjective poisoned.
