A Clone is an evil copy of Maxwell, his clothing is switched, his rooster helmet is blue and his shirt is red. Despite resembling Doppelganger, Clones don't spawn with or use Maxwell's Notebook, and behave completely differently.

About[]

Clone steal most objects, apart from holdable animals, flowers and organs, and Maxwell's Notebook, and always audibly exclaims "Yoink!" when taking something. He will run away from Policemen and any other law enforcement person. NPCs won't react to him as a monster, but as a normal person instead.

The clone also considers certain items to be more valuable than others, and will always replace a "low value" item for a "high value" one. For example, he thinks a DVD is better than a toy car and will always get rid of a toy car to steal a DVD. However, he will never replace a held DVD to steal a toy car.

The clone's value of objects appears to be somewhat arbitrary, as he seems to hold little value for objects such as money. Currently, the items with the lowest known value are weapons, and the items with the highest known value are the stereo and gramophone.

Notably, the Clone does not attempt to steal real Starites, but will steal the fake toy Starites.

Trivia[]

  • Amazingly, the Clone can catch a projectile in Scribblenauts. This is considered a glitch due to its unavailability in Super Scribblenauts.
  • Clones appear in the levels P9-6, A9-8, and A10-5 in the original Scribblenauts.
  • Before and after Scribblenauts Unmasked, both the Clone and the Doppelganger shared their sprites.
  • The Clone's sprite is based on Maxwell's original Nintendo DS sprite, instead of being updated to reflect Maxwell's appearance in each given game. This is most noticeable in games like Scribblenauts Unmasked and Scribblenauts Showdown.
    • The only game this does not apply to is Scribblenauts Remix, where the Clone's sprite was updated alongside Maxwell and Doppelganger.
    • Doppelganger's sprite was updated to match Maxwell in Scribblenauts Unmasked, while Clone's wasn't, making it the only game the two do not use the same sprite.
  • In the code, there is a separate sprite for the Clone in a UFO. It is unknown why the developers didn't just put him in a UFO instead of creating an entire new sprite. Probably because when the Clone goes to the top screen it shrinks and has less evil eyes.
  • Maxwell was redesigned in an update to Scribblenauts Remix, and the design of Clones and Doppelgangers were updated to reflect it.
  • The Female Clone resembles an unused sprite for a female Maxwell found in the files of Scribblenauts, Super Scribblenauts, and Scribblenauts Unlimited.
  • The Female Clone resembles Doppelily.
  • The Clone lost all of it's original synonyms starting in Super Scribblenauts, as all of them were instead taken by the Doppelganger.
    • The Clone did gain one new synonym in Super Scribblenauts though, being "Twin". However, it later lost this in Scribblenauts Unlimited.
