In real life, a Computer is a machine where you can surf the Internet, write and print documents, and play games.
In Scribblenauts you can't do anything with it (It sends out little waves if tapped). But in Super Scribblenauts you can turn it on/off. You see a wallpaper of the computer screen if you turn it on. If you put it in water it will explode, like most electronics.
In an interview with Nintendo Power, Jeremiah Slaczka, the co-founder of 5th Cell, has stated that the machine 5th Cell used to store all the graphics and words was referred to as the Objectnaut. This is likely the reason it appears as a synonym to computer. The Level Editor synonym probably has to do with Scribblenauts' development as well.
