Emo is an american subculture, which started out as a genre of music with hardcore punk and pop punk influences.
It's tied into fashion now, with common examples being of boys and girls both wearing skinny jeans, fringed hair swept to the side or over one or both eyes, dark and straight hair, studded belts, and shoes made of canvas, like Converse or Vans.
The style has changed in recent years to become darker, with emphasis on the color black.
