The Flaming Sword is unique because it is not a normal sword. The blade is dark and crooked.
The flaming sword can be extinguished using Water. It can set objects and most NPCs on fire. However this does more damage then average fire set off by a campfire because it counts as a sword slash, not a fire hit, which are much, much weaker. It can actually be used to chop down trees.
Haetaes will eat the fire off of it as well.
