| This page is about the level type; for the object, see here. |
A playground is an area in which you can play around freely, often appearing on the game's title screen. Their main purpose is to summoning whatever you want without worrying about completing a level or dying. Players are generally invincible within playgrounds, however until Unlimited some objects like Death, Thunamis, Nukes, and Black Holes can still kill them.

Super Scribblenauts[]
The Title Screen Levels, now called playgrounds, function similarly to the original game. Unlike the original though, they are all unlocked from the beginning. Most playgrounds also feature objects and NPCs pre-placed in the level. There are nine different playgrounds in Super Scribblenauts, and players can also make their own playgrounds in the Level designer.

There are no rules, aside from the budget. Once made, the custom playground can be transferred to the title screen for the players to use whenever they'd like. Up to 8 custom levels can me saved at once, and all of them can be used for playgrounds should the player want to.
Scribblenauts Remix[]
Scribblenauts Remix has a total of 12 different playgrounds, serving the same purpose as prior games. Some of the playgrounds in Remix are original, while others are remakes of playgrounds seen in Super Scribblenauts. Several playgrounds were also released as seasonal promotions, however all playgrounds are available to all players regardless of season. Additionally, some playgrounds now start the player in themed clothing, though the clothes can be freely removed later. The player starts with 8 playgrounds, with the remaining four being unlocked if the player purchases the Playground Pack from the game's store using real money.
Park[]
Park
A remake of the Park playground from Super Scibblenauts, this is the default playground used when first starting the game. It has a simplistic layout with only a dirt patch on the left and a slope on the right. Additionally, this playground has the player wearing Sunglasses by default.

It has a simplistic layout with only a dirt patch on the left and a slope on the right, with the only difference in terrain being a small opening underground housing a buried Easter Egg. This level is also populated by other objects as well such as an Easter Bunny, a couple regular Bunnies, a Chick, and various Flowers and Flowerbeds.

Strangely, unlike the Super Scribblenauts version of this playground, the terrain glitches and gets replaced with corrupt tiles if the player tries to dig the dirt in this level. While harmless overall, these corrupt floors tend to be easy for the player to get into, but difficult to escape. As a result, the player should exercise caution should they appear, as they often require the playground to be reset to get out.

Scribblenauts Unlimited (Mobile)[]
Playgrounds returned in the mobile version of Scribblenauts Unlimited, being sandbox areas for the player to play around freely in. Just like in Super Scribblenauts, the player cannot die in the Playground, and this time not even level destroying objects like Tsunamis or Nukes can kill them.
Instead of unique areas, these playgrounds are versions of some of the game's normal levels, except without any Starites or Starite Shards present. Level objects still spawn, but unlike the level's normal counterparts they can all be freely moved, edited, and deleted by the player.
Before the title screen players can play on Edwin's Farm, with nine more playgrounds being available in the game's shop that the player can purchase, being sold in three individual packs of three playgrounds. Once purchased, the player must return to the shop in order to use the new playgrounds.
Edwin's Farm[]
Edwin's Farm
The playground seen before the title screen, and the only playground the player doesn't need to purchase, Edwin's Farm serves as a large flat area and is great if you want a nice basic area to play in without any terrain getting in your way.
Strangely, the music that plays on Edwin's Farm is the Game Over theme.
