Toads are a race of mushroom-like people from the Super Mario franchise. They live in the Mushroom Kingdom and are lead by Princess Peach. They appear as Guest Objects in the Wii U and European 3DS Versions of Scribblenauts Unlimited.

They have 80 HP and deal 5 HP per hit.

Like other Nintendo guest objects, Toads can only be given specified items, cannot have adjectives applied to them, and cannot be edited with the Object Editor.

Behavior[]

Toads are both friendly and protective of Mario, Luigi, and Peach, and will fight anyone who tried to hurt them. They also naturally fight Mario series enemies, including Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Shy Guys, and Bowser, and are scared of Chain Chomps. Toads are not scared away by Boos and Bob-ombs, and are indifferent towards other Toads. They are otherwise neutral, and do not attack unless provoked.

They are interested in and will ride any Karts or Yoshis they see.

Toads will pick up Baseball Bats, Golf Clubs, and Tennis Rackets, and will also kick Soccer Balls.

Toads can be given Turnips, Coins, Super Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, Super Stars, Yoshi Eggs, Rupees, Ocarinas, Hookshots, the Triforce, and the Master Sword. Unlike other Nintendo objects, the player can also put Toads on any Rideable object, including anything that has been made rideable with adjectives.

Trivia[]

  • Toads riding Yoshis is a reference to the playable Toads from the New Super Mario Bros. series.
  • Toads riding Karts is a reference to the Mario Kart series.
  • Toads' interest in sports items is a reference to various Mario sports games and series, such as Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario Strikers/Mario Football, and Mario Superstar Baseball.
  • Toads' ability to be given Turnips is a reference to the US release of Super Mario Bros. 2. They will also throw them as an attack.
    • For some reason Toads won't pick up Turnips on their own like Mario, Luigi, and Peach do, and instead have to be given them by the player.
  • Because Toads are not scared of Bob-ombs, they do not run away when Bob-ombs are about to detonate. Placing a Bob-omb near a Toad often results in the Toad dying because they see no reason to move.
